Latte Art Throw down

Competition will occur during the hours of the Canadian Barista Championship.

Get ready to have some fun, as So Nice Barista Blend, brings you an informal Latte Art Throwdown.  The competition will be held throughout both days of the Canadian Barista Championships on the Barista Main Stage.

Interested competitors are asked to visit the Barista Main Stage, signup for a slot and bring their A game.

Each competitor will have a digital picture of their art creation captured. A panel of expert judges will then select the top 4 from each day to move on to the finals where they will compete head to head.

The finals will take place between the final barista competitor and the announcement of the winners on the Barista Main Stage.

Each competitor will be asked to make two lattes, one using So Nice Barista Blend and one using milk.

Did we mention the $500.00 prize for the best lattes?

(Prize will be awarded to the person with the best combination soy & milk scores)

2011 Canadian Regional Barista Championships

You are invited to participate in the 2011 Canadian Regional Barista Championships.

This year four regional competitions will take place starting with the Central Regional in Toronto, Eastern Regional in Quebec City, Prairie Regional in Calgary and Western Regional in Victoria. The events will feature each region's best baristas demonstrating the art of making the perfect espresso drinks and competing for the regional barista championship title.

The top three finalists in each regional will qualify for the Canadian National Barista Championship held at The Canadian Coffee and Tea Show in Vancouver on October 2 & 3, 2011 at The Vancouver Convention Centre.

During both the National and Regional competitions, each competitor will be expected to prepare and serve 12 separate espresso beverages: 4 espresso, 4 cappuccinos, and 4 "signature" drinks of their own creation. Competitors have only fifteen minutes to prepare all twelve drinks and are judged on various elements including station cleanliness, taste, beverage presentation, technical skills and total impression by a distinguished panel of local judges from the foodservice industry.

The eventual winner of the Canadian National Championship will represent Canada at the 2012 World Barista Championship.

All the competitors will receive great prizes for participating as well as valuable experience.

The events are open to the public.
